The Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) has committed £25m to Summix Capital Partners. Summix is one of the UK & Ireland's leading master developers and regeneration specialists, delivering 5,700 new homes since inception, with a further 15,000 homes in various stages of planning.
The firm seeks to work collaboratively with communities, and sustainably, to deliver places to live, work and play where they are most needed. Since inception, Summix have helped to unlock over 1,000 new residential units in Ireland. ISIF’s investment will help crowd in third party capital to scale the firm’s Irish activities and provide equity risk capital to unlock sites for Irish homebuilders.
Summix is an independent, partner owned firm with over 150+ years combined experience. The firm was founded in 2006 and is led by Amit Bhatia, Niamh O’Connor, Shukri Shammas and Tareq Naqib. It specialises in two distinct areas:
- Urban Regeneration: designing and delivering new mixed-use communities in city centres for people to live, work and play.
- Strategic Land: Working with landowners, local authorities, and communities to promote and deliver new settlements and sustainable urban extensions following garden community principles.
Summix is an active investor In Ireland, helping to unlock over 700 new homes and mixed-use schemes nationwide, examples include:
- Independent House, Dublin: Listed buildings and development site extending to 0.29 hectare (0.72 acres) situated on Middle Abbey Street just off O'Connell Street in the heart of Dublin City Centre. Adjacent to many third level institutions, excellent public transport, and city centre amenities. Regeneration and adding to existing historic buildings formerly the HQ of Independent Newspapers by creating a new student housing community on this important city centre street. Proposal to animate and add to the streetscape with the addition of retail accommodation at ground floor level.
- Augustine Hill, Galway: A 3.64ha (8.2 acre) brownfield site adjacent to Ceannt Train Station comprising an expansion of Galway's city centre quarter, being managed in conjunction with, Edward Capital. The proposal for Augustine Hill comprises a transformational mixed-use urban regeneration development on a 3.64ha site. The development is arranged over 10 blocks (including 6 residential towers) with an overall proposed gross floor area in excess of 125,000sqm. The mix of uses includes residential (260 apartments), retail (26,449sqm) and hospitality (189-bedroom hotel), along cafes and restaurants.
- Washington Street West, Cork: The site comprised a former furniture shop situated in the city centre of Cork, on the river Ley. The building was a protected structure which our planning application catered for by way of retaining the existing facade. The city is thriving with students from both University College Cork (UCC) and Cork Institute of Technology (UCT). This mixed-use development comprised 209-beds with co-working space and a cafe. It is now known as Broga House and managed by Nido Student.
